This post discusses all the best at home Halloween date night ideas
Everyone knows fall time is perfect for fun and cozy date nights with your friends or your boo! (Get it?) As the weather starts to get colder, sometime staying in the house starts to call on you a bit more, so why not combine the two with a Halloween themed date night at home?
The key to a great at home date night or even a night with friends is being intentional about it being a ‘date’. Plan it out, make your partner or friends aware that you thought of them and wanted it to be intentional and different from other outings or quality time. This helps to make this night different from any other night at home.
As someone who also loves Halloween themes and a well planned date night, I’ve created a list of 11 at home Halloween date ideas to try out this fall with someone special in your life.
At Home Halloween Date Ideas
- Halloween Bake-Off
If you’re a fan of sweets and competition this is great date night for a single couple, a group date night, or even friends and family. Have your partner or anyone else invited bring ingredients needed to make their favorite Halloween themed dessert, then prepare it together with music or a show in the background.
Finally, give your treat a cool Halloween themed name and share your dessert item and vote on whose is the best! Bonus points if you make your dessert from scratch. Stuck on what dessert to make? Pinterest has tons of idea recipes or try these:
- Caramel Apples
- Pillsbury Halloween (in the fall they have a ton of Halloween themes such as ghosts or pumpkins)
- Apple Cider Donut Cake
- Red Velvet Cupcakes
- Pumpkin Cupcakes
- Halloween Designed Rice Krispies
2. Scary Movie Marathon
Relive your childhood and build a fort, or fill up your couch with pillows and blankets and queue up the TV with your favorite scary or Halloween themed movies. Add in some popcorn, snacks, and drinks and give it a feeling of being at the movies.
You can even get a little creative with the snacks by setting up some candy box organizers, grabbing movie theater popcorn bins, or even buying a home icee maker. Dim the lights, hang up some decor, grab the blankets and then you have a nice at home theater. Set up your favorite streaming site or get a free trial to watch some of your favorite movies
3. Classic Halloween TV show episodes binge
Maybe you’re like me and you miss those Fridays in October as a teen when the best thing about life was turning on Disney Channel or Nickelodeon to watch your favorites shows Halloween episode. Why not bring that back?
With so many streaming services, most likely your favorite show still exists somewhere. Look up the Halloween episode of you and your partners favorite shows such as Hannah Montana, iCarly, Parks and Rec, Friends, Black-ish, Sister-Sister, etc.
4. Halloween Themed Cocktail Competition
Going out for drinks is fun, but usually expensive and sometimes not always up to par. If you love a good drink but want to keep the party at home, try looking up some cocktail recipes, putting a Halloween spin on it and making a tasty drink for your special person.
Make it a competition with your partner or friends to see who can make the best drinks. For some inspiration Drink Masters on Netflix is great bartending competition show to learn how to channel your inner competitor.
If you’re stuck on what to make as a drink, I personally love some of the recipes here: https://insanelygoodrecipes.com/halloween-cocktails/
5. Scary Themed Paint and Sip
Paint and sips are great no matter the weather but a scary theme takes it up a notch. My favorite way to host a paint and sip is by getting canvases with traceable prints to fill in free hand which is great for those without the strongest artistic abilities.
For a more specific canvas print there are also tons of online etsy shops to get a more customized print to fill in. If you’re feeling more artistically savvy or want to get out your comfort zone, try free handing a blank canvas to design on your own.
Your local store is likely to carry packs of paint kits and lower ending finger paint and brushes to keep it as an affordable night in. Don’t forget to dim the lights a bit, grab a bottle of your favorite wine, or even make a non-alcoholic cocktail to sip on while you’re painting!
6. Backyard “Camping Trip”
Want to go camping, without the actual “camping part”? Try setting up an at home camping site from the comfort of your backyard, balcony, or even your living room.
Gather some chairs, set up a bonfire (they even make small indoor safe counter top versions), and make some smores! To add in a bit of Halloween theme look up some haunted scary stories from your home town and read them out loud to each other
7. Spa Night and Halloween Movie Marathon
Put twist on a Halloween Movie Marathon date night, by adding in some DIY spa treatment with your boo. Throw on some Halloween matching pj’s or robes and pull out the DIY face masks, skin care products, and personal massages.
Once you’re relaxed, add in some Halloween movies and snacks and you’ve got a complete night.
8. Create a Halloween Themed Craft
If you’re into DIY or like to get your hands dirty, try putting on your creative hat and making some Halloween crafts with your partner or friends for your next date night.
From painting, to pottery, to making a Halloween costume just for fun, this is a great way to work with each other and collaborate to make something to display.
9. Halloween Face Paint
If you haven’t realized by now Halloween themed date nights are all about reliving your childhood. Rather than going to the fair or local amusement park, it can be just as fun to do it at home.
Look up an online design or face mask, and then pick up some finger paint from Dollar General or Amazon and take your best chance at drawing it on your partners face. Good luck!
10. Carve Pumpkins
Make quick stop at a grocery store, or even make a stop by a pumpkin patch to grab a pumpkin and carve some designs at home. Remember to actually make it date night vibes by adding in some drinks, food, and bit of Halloween ambience to make it more than just a regular night
11. Cook dinner for each other in costume
This one is bit crazy but if you’re in a funny mood and want to switch up the vibe try surprising your partner by grabbing some quick and easy Halloween costumes and then plan out a meal to cook as a couple. Definitely will make this a date night for the history books
Now that you have some ideas, you’re ready to set up a great spooky date night for you, your partner, or your friends.
